We're sure anyone who owns a smartphone can say an app has come to the rescue at one time or another. Whether they've been used to pay a credit card bill on time, find a gas station, or double as a flashlight, apps have revolutionized the way we use (and rely on) our phones—and travel apps are no exception. This summer, check out these travel apps that will come in handy on any getaway:
- iPatrol Travel Advice: Travel with peace of mind with this trusty app. iPatrol catalogues the most visited destinations and offers safety tips for visitors unfamiliar with the area. Whether you're traveling to Times Square or the Eiffel Tower, this app will keep you and your family feeling safe and secure.

To wrap up our spa series, we found two dramatically different spa resorts on the East Coast, and we can't decide which atmosphere we like better! Spoil yourself with a massage in New York City's Upper East Side, or venture to the countryside of Western Massachusetts. Either way, you won't be disappointed.
Your hubby refuses to go for a couple's massage? Treat yourself to an even better personal one, and send him to Kiehl's Spa 1851 in New York City. The Kiehl's skincare product line has been around for 160 years—they know the drill by now, so we promise he'll enjoy it. Specializing in men's facials, masks, and serums, this spa has an old-school feel with murals and '40s-inspired art. It also has a mini barber shop!

Feeling like you need a dose of Southern hospitality? To continue our spa series this week (we featured West coast spas last week), we're featuring two of our favorite Southern spas, one in New Orleans and the other in the Sunshine State!
The spa at The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans is the real deal. The ambiance is spectacular and features water fountains and draped chandeliers to make you feel relaxed. The spa offers a scrub and wrap bar, mother-to-be specials, and couples treatments, which are perfect for a getaway for two! It even has an in-house Pilates studio, so your body and mind will feel rejuvenated.

Vacations should be about taking a break and getting away from it all. Planning one can make for a stressful few weeks or months, and that doesn't include flight delays and other travel troubles on the way there. The second you arrive, relaxation is key. Next time you plan a trip, consider visiting a spa destination! Not only will you be away from home, but the whole point of your getaway will be to relax and rejuvenate. Over the next few weeks, we will be highlighting our favorite spas from all around the country. Up first: two fabulous spa resorts on the West Coast.
Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara is a beautiful Spanish gem. Indulge yourself with one of their 14 massage options. Our personal favorite is The Moroccan Ritual, a full-body massage and exfoliation with Moroccanoil.
