With the winter holiday season approaching, it's time to start preparing for the colder months—and hopefully for your winter vacation! Some travelers like to spend the winter months enjoying the snowflakes and winter fun, while others prefer to soak up as much sun as possible, even if that means leaving home to do so. We've selected a few of our favorite winter destinations with both types of travelers in mind.
There's no doubt about it: Colorado is ski country. As soon as snow hits the ground, skiers and snowboarders rejoice and hit the slopes. But if you're not a skier or snowboarder, don't fret—there are plenty of other activities in Denver, which makes it the perfect winter destination for all. The city is scattered with skating rinks, some of which are free to use! Throughout November and December, the city hosts several beautiful lighting displays that are sure to get you in the holiday spirit. If you'd rather warm up indoors, a couple of museums (including the Denver Museum of Nature & Science and the Denver Art Museum) offer admission-free days. Check out Denver hotels on Tingo here.
San José, Costa Rica
While the U.S. battles the cold winter, Costa Rica enjoys some of its best weather. Holiday rates may be higher due to the nice weather, but we promise it's worth the trip! What could be better than celebrating the winter holidays on a beach? Christmas Day and the week after hold elaborate celebrations in Costa Rica, including fireworks, festivals, food, and the arrival of Santa Claus. San José is also home to tons of museums, parks, and zoos as well as beautiful European-inspired theaters and auditoriums, where you can enjoy concerts, theater, and dance performances. Winter is low tourist season in Paris, which means hotel rates are lower and the city is less crowded. It will be chilly, though, so add layers to your wardrobe to brave the cold weather. Since the crowds will be smaller, winter is the perfect time to check out local museums and peruse various art galleries and exhibits. And window shopping is at its peak, just in time for holiday gifts! Several outdoor ice-skating rinks open up throughout Paris for the winter season and pair perfectly with après-skate cups of hot cocoa. Check out Paris hotels on Tingo here.
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Spring season in Buenos Aires starts in September and ends in December, which also makes it low tourist season. Hotel rates are lower and crowds are thin. By November, most of the city's roses and violet jacaranda trees have bloomed, which makes for a stunning view when strolling through the city. The Palermo neighborhood in north Buenos Aires offers museums, art galleries, and parks. You can also shop at a number of high-end boutiques, sip coffee at a café, or snack on some local food at any of the outdoor markets or restaurants. Check out Buenos Aires hotels on Tingo here.
When traveling this winter, whether you're on the ski slopes or catching a tan on the beach, be sure to book your hotel on Tingo, because when the price drops, you'll get a refund automatically.
