Have Hotels Gone to the Dogs? Woof!

If you prefer to travel with your four-legged wonder at all times—and that includes overnight hotel staysthen consider yourself lucky today. The Tingo staff is loaded with dog lovers, and we like to take our pups with us at any cost. But finding the right hotel can take some time. Here are our top picks for the most helpful sites that'll get you and your pooch on your way.

  • DogFriendly.com—These guys have been around since the late '90s, and while the site is not overly pleasing to the eye, they sure cover a heck of a lot of ground. In addition to hotels, DogFriendly also has a good list of nearby parks, dining locations, beaches, campsites, etc.—all dog-friendly, of course.
  • Petswelcome.com—Not just for dogs, Petswelcome.com offers a host of categories to research, from hotels and travel tips to daycare, parks, and more. It's not super-easy to navigate, but there's meat there if you want it.
  • BringFido.com—BringFido breaks it all down for complete trip planning: which airlines charge fees (and how much) to dog-friendly restaurants, a forum, and even a section dedicated to dog-friendly events for finding a play-date for your pal (check out the Dog Run Club in Richmond, VA). In Boston, we found a room for $118/night at the Ramada Inn Boston with no pet fee.
